KATAKLYSM Celebrates 15th Birthday
September 27, 2006Vocalist Maurizio Iacono of the Canadian death metallers KATAKLYSM has issued the following update:
"I'm very proud to say that this month KATAKLYSM turns 15 years old. We dont feel old; the energy is still in full effect. Some more gray hairs coming. but hey, that's life. It hasn't been easy for us along the way, but I'm glad to say that this band never quit unlike other bands, we never stopped because the 'scene' wasn't happening... because people weren't buying death metal records anymore and then when it got healthy again returned when it's 'cool' again and charge triple the money to play live. We never got any handouts, never got any 'big' favors... we just had a label who believed in us and we did the rest through blood and sweat. Everything we have, we earned it with the help of our dedicated fans' support, which I wanna take this moment to thank sincerely...
"With this said, I wanna also answer some e-mails and MySpace messages that we've been receiving lately about why we took the rest of the year off and not touring.
"Well, theres two reasons. The first one is really because we dropped all our plans and started writting new material, Myself and guitarist J-F have been brainstorming ideas and the riffs and songs that we are pending with Max and Steph are really monstrous at the moment... so when the inspiration is there, it's time to drop everything and write, that's the rule!
"So let me tell you that the next release will really show this bands determination. W have no pressure at all — even the enormous success of our last album 'In the Arm of Devastation'...BUT you'll have to wait 'till 2008 for the next one! We still have work to do supporting 'In the Arms of Devastation'. We will start touring again next year, starting with Europe, and hopefully hit the States right after. Besides, this fall is clusterfuck with some many tours happening, it won't make sense for us to squeeze ourselves in. I, being a fan first, don't even know what show to go to... There's like three or four shows a week passing through here... so in the meanwhile we have a few shows to keep us warmed up. Check out our site for dates that are confirmed at www.kataklysm.net. Also, we are working very hard on our first CD/DVD release, titled 'Live In Deutschland (The Devastation Begins)' we want our fans to ge the most material for there money and we are adding some killer stuff on this, some more details will be released soon on it."
